Where our data comes from

Every score, statistic and forecast on 4Baseball comes from a source named below. We poll each one once from our own server and every visitor reads the same snapshot — your browser never contacts any of them.

Sources

Data sources and licences
Source	What it provides	Terms
MLB Advanced Media (statsapi.mlb.com)	MLB and minor-league schedules, live line scores, box scores, rosters, season statistics and transactions	See MLBAM's notice — it permits individual, non-commercial, non-bulk use. The owner of this site reviewed that notice and chose to use the API; it can be switched off in one line of configuration.
BALLDONTLIE	Fallback source for MLB scores and line scores	API terms explicitly permit commercial use and redistribution; no attribution required, but we credit it anyway.
NCAA.com via ncaa-api	College baseball and softball scores, line scores, box scores and polls	An unofficial open-source wrapper (MIT) over ncaa.com. The underlying data carries no licence from the NCAA.
National Weather Service	First-pitch forecasts: temperature, wind direction and rain probability	A work of the United States government — public domain.
Retrosheet	Historical game logs: head-to-head series and ballpark records	Free for any use, including commercial, provided the notice below appears.
Lahman Database (SABR)	Career statistics through the last completed season (a yearly download)	Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 — tables we derive from it are offered on the same terms.
Chadwick Baseball Bureau register	Player id crosswalk that links Lahman career records to our player pages	Open Data Commons Attribution License (ODC-BY 1.0).
The Odds API	Sportsbook lines, when a key is configured	API terms.
CBS Sports, ESPN and Yahoo Sports scoreboards	Scores only, and only when no score API is answering — every score shown this way is credited to the site it came from	Read from their public scoreboard pages, honouring each site’s robots.txt.

What we deliberately do not use

ESPN's undocumented APIRejects an honestly identified crawler
Baseball-Reference, FanGraphs, Baseball SavantTerms prohibit automated collection or commercial reuse
Datasets republishing the aboveA permissive wrapper does not clean the terms underneath

If a source refuses our identified crawler, we stop and use something else. We never retry under a different identity.
