Marlins Interested In Michael King

1+ day, 1+ hour ago (258+ words) By Steve Adams | November 24, 2025 at 10:46am CDT The Marlins are among the teams that have shown interest in free-agent righty Michael King, per Ken Rosenthal and Evan Drellich of The Athletic. Miami has frequently been linked to prominent bullpen arms in the offseason's early stages as well, and the Fish are apparently planning to spend more heavily in free agency than in recent years (although that's a pretty low bar to clear). The Marlins are on the lookout for meaningful offensive upgrades, but the free agent market is generally thin on impact hitters this offseason. If the Fish instead choose to further deepen an organizational strength, they could use their stock of quality young arms to explore the trade market in search of more meaningful upgrades at the infield corners, designated hitter and/or in right field. King rejected a $22.025MM qualifying…...

Mets make first big blockbuster trade of offseason

1+ day, 4+ hour ago (327+ words) The Mets made their first splashy move of the offseason on Sunday evening, a surprising trade that sent outfielder Brandon Nimmo to the Rangers for second baseman Marcus Semien. ESPN's Jeff Passan was first to report the early-offseason blockbuster. To make this one-for-one trade possible, Nimmo waived his full no-trade clause, according to reports. It brings his 15-year tenure with the Mets organization " dating back to when he was drafted as a first-round pick in 2011 " to an abrupt close. Semien, 35, has three years remaining on his seven-year, $175 million contract. The Mets are on the hook for $72 million before Semien hits free agency following the 2028 season. Nimmo, meanwhile, is under contract for five more years. The 32-year-old is owed $102.5 million. According to the New York Post's Jon Heyman, the Mets will send $5 million to Texas. Mets president of baseball operations David…...

Mets make stunning trade to send Brandon Nimmo to Rangers for Marcus Semien | Sporting News

1+ day, 10+ hour ago (324+ words) The New York Mets were expected to be active on the trade market this winter, and they got that going before Thanksgiving. On Sunday, as NFL action captured most of the sports world's attention, the Mets swung a deal with the Texas Rangers, the rare veteran-for-veteran trade. ESPN's Jeff Passan reported these details on Sunday evening: There are a number of elements here that make this a surprising trade. The first is that Nimmo has been with the Mets his entire MLB career. He was a first-round pick, 13th overall, in the 2011 MLB Draft by the Mets out of East High School in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The kid from Wyoming has been in the Mets' organization ever since. He made his MLB debut in 2016, and he has played in 1,066 games for the Mets. That includes a .262 average, .364 on-base percentage, 188 doubles, 135 home runs…...

Marlins make trade and decisions on seven arbitration-eligible players

3+ day, 5+ hour ago (663+ words) The Marlins kept their pitching staff together, at least for now, on Friday by tendering contracts to all seven of their arbitration-eligible starters and relievers before the 8 p.m. deadline. The Marlins, who don't have a single arbitration-eligible position player, tendered contracts to Edward Cabrera, Anthony Bender, Braxton Garrett, Calvin Faucher, Max Meyer, Ryan Weathers and Andrew Nardi. Barring trades, all are set either go to arbitration or agree to contracts with the Marlins before that point. Cabrera, who has been a source of speculation in trade rumors, had a breakout season, finishing 8-7 with a 3.53 ERA in 26 starts. He had elbow discomfort in the final week of the season but it dissipated and he made his final start without an issue. Garrett missed all of last season after undergoing revision surgery on the ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow. The 2016 first-round…...
